There are many perks to being a teacher. Aside from shaping the minds of our youth, teachers also enjoy a well-defined career track and a 90% job satisfaction rate, according to Education Week. Each year, personal finance site WalletHub schools us in the best states for teachers, with factors including highest-rated school systems and highest annual salaries.

While teaching is not necessarily known as a high-paying line of work - the national average salary for K-12 teachers is $59,420, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics - that may just depend on where one teaches.

Although the best overall school systems are on the East Coast, the West Coast is home to the top two best states for teachers overall.
