Job Description

Qualifications:
       

This position will provide and maintain Whey processing for the plant to assure a continuous operation of whey production at an efficient cost and quality that maintains market competitiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

•Direct the processing of Whey to ensure top quality and compliance with Corporate Q.A. specifications, governmental regulations, standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices.

•Properly schedule all aspects of whey processing operations and labor to efficiently meet production and customer requirements on a timely basis.

•Ensure coordination with maintenance to achieve repair and preventative maintenance of equipment to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency.

•Assist in the development and implementation of Capital Projects.

•Assure the department is maintained in a quality appearance fashion adhering to State, Federal and good manufacturing practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

4 year college degree in food services or in related area with 5 to 15 years experience in Whey food processing.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

•Know and understand a basic concept of the physics of drying, evaporation, separation and ultrafiltration.

•Basic accounting, good business and people management skills .

•Working knowledge of microbiology, sanitation practices, chemistry, animal feed techniques.

Manages 24/7/365 operation of workers and equipment in the production of high quality/ high value whey products, while applying learned knowledge of processes involved and production methods.
Plays key role in maintaining the quality of the products produced at our facility.
Plan and develop systems and procedures to improve quality and efficiency of the department.
Analyze lab data and react accordingly data trending.
Assists in training employees in work methods and procedures.
Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs/oversees setup and adjustments of machines.
Carry out duties as requested by Plant Manager and Director of Whey Operations.
Manages and coordinates activities of workers engaged in producing dairy products, ensuring all aspects of production are handled at the highest level of quality.
Managing the daily process of whey processing from initial steps of whey processing to final steps in warehousing finished product.
Good mechanical skills with ability to communicate and work with maintenance department so that all equipment is maintained at the highest level to reduce unnecessary down time.
Ensures all areas of the plant are following company standard GMPas in their daily production runs.
Able to complete and/or assist in the duties of all jobs related to production when circumstances demand.
Manage reporting of yields, solids recovery and maximize opportunities.
Will perform performance reviews of employees.
Address any human resource needs, relating to those being managed, (in a timely manner) ensuring proper documentation and communication with necessary parties and HR department.
Work with plant, corporate and client personnel to resolve day-to-day production tasks/needs as they arise.
Examines samples of products and reviews finished product data.
Understand and obey all Good Manufacturing Practice.

Qualifications:
BS Degree in a science related field or a minimum of 5 years experience in a Whey food production plant.
Previous MANAGEMENT experience.
Completion of related college courses a plus.

Technical Competencies:
Knowledge of quality assurance procedures and sampling requirements.
Ability to pay strong attention to detail and multitask effectively.
Proficient in math and basic algebra.
Track and maintain information on spreadsheets.
Practical experience in and working knowledge of, the operations of dairy plant membrane, evaporation and drying equipment.
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word or the like.
Ability to mass balance unit operations.
