Senior Hydraulic Systems Design Engineer

Job Description

The Senior Project Engineer exercises independent discretion and judgment in order to plan, coordinate, and execute assigned projects that include, but are not limited to, the support of marketing and sales efforts, manufacturing support, and new product development. The Senior Project Engineer is relied upon as the technical expert for designated product lines who directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organizing, controlling, integrating, and completing assigned engineering projects.  The Senior Project Engineer utilizes broad professional engineering and industry experience in order to promote innovative ideas for new product development and systems design improvements.  The Senior Project Engineer must pro-actively and effectively interact with all internal departments as well as suppliers and customers. This position provides leadership, mentoring and technical support to Project Engineers or others (per assigned projects) to support the Engineering Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED:

Provides engineering support for new, existing, or modified hydraulic system designs .    Required support includes cost estimation, sales documentation, production support for sales orders, product design development, specification of components, modification of existing products, engineering computations, prototyping, new product development, preparation of full manufacturing data, and the support of new products as assigned. 

Utilizes broad professional engineering and industry experience in order to promote innovative ideas for new product development and existing product improvements.

Develops new products and systems design for commercial launch, from concept through design, testing, and introduction.

Supports new products after commercial introduction.  Evaluates, improves, and certifies for production any new products.  Such efforts would include, but are not limited to, the creation and/or design review of the following documents; SOP (Standard Operating Procedures), assembly drawings, element construction drawings, BOM’s (Bill of Material), BOO’s (Bills of Operation), assembly drawings, technical manuals, etc.

Provides manufacturing engineering support for the design of new products or the modification of established products in response to company or customer requirements within the guidelines of the Company policy, cost effectiveness, manufacturability, product safety and liability, accepted engineering practices, applicable standards or regulations, lean manufacturing principles, and within the time constraints established by the Engineering Manager. 

Provides leadership, mentoring and technical support to Project Engineers or others (per assigned projects) to support the Engineering Department.

Travel, including driving, is required. Travel to domestic and international locations may be occasional.



Job Requirements

  • Minimum of BS Degree in Engineering.  BSME, BSEE or related field is preferred.  Master’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is a plus.

 

  • Minimum of five (5) + years’ experience

  • Fluid Power Specialist Certification is required within two years of employment.

  • Knowledge of product design, project management, and electrical schematics as applied to fluid power is preferred.

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Solid Works or equivalent computer aided drafting system is required.

  • Experience in fluid power industry and/or manufacturing environment is preferred.
