The Otsuka Group traces its origins to the 1921 establishment of Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory as a producer of chemical compounds. Production and sale of intravenous solutions began in 1946. Subsequently, the company continued to expand, with the establishment of Otsuka Chemical Company Co., Ltd. in 1950, Taiho Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. in 1963, and Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. in 1964.
