Overview
In 1954, Joe LaForce, with a partner, bought a hardware supply business in downtown Green Bay, Wis. Three years later, Joe bought out the partnership and formed LaForce Builder's Supply. During the next 12 years, LaForce Builder's Supply expanded its product line to include commercial hollow metal frames. By 1969, it became apparent that in order to sell with consistent quality and make timely deliveries, LaForce would need an in-house door and frame production capability. Fortunately, well-timed acquisitions of bending and cutting machines provided LaForce with the necessary assets to manufacture its own line of innovative custom frames.

Shortly after the manufacturing process was expanded, LaForce landed its first job in the Chicago area and has been an active and growing presence there ever since. In 1989, sales offices were established in both Milwaukee and Chicago. Soon after, in 1993, LaForce established its third branch office located in Madison. On January 1, 2001, LaForce Inc. purchased a regional distributor located in Cincinnati, to serve as its fourth branch. Several years later, in 2004, LaForce added a new location in Willowbrook, Ill., to service its customers in south Chicago and central Illinois. Looking to expand its presence in the Midwest, LaForce opened branches in Detroit in 2006 and in Indianapolis in 2009. Most recently, LaForce expanded its reach outside of the Midwest and opened a branch in Phoenix, Arizona. Each location offers expanded office and shop space as well as expanded inventory storage.

As LaForce has expanded its physical presence, LaForce has also expanded its industry presence. Today, LaForce is a leading provider of commercial doors, frames, hardware and building specialties throughout the United States and beyond. In addition, LaForce offers its customers such services as security integration, certified fire door inspections and specification writing. LaForce also offers a variety of high-end residential hardware through its residential showrooms.

Our founder, Joe LaForce, instilled the importance of being a part of the community and also donating our time and money. We continue to practice this.
