Maintenance Technician / Maintenance Mechanic


Job Description 


American Resource Staffing is currently seeking a 2nd shift Maintenance Technician / Maintenance Mechanic for their client in Methuen. Candidates should have experience as a maintenance technician/ maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing environment.

 

Qualifications:

  • Participate in  Continuous Improvement (CI), Autonomous Maintenance, Specialized Maintenance, Why-Why Analysis, Focused Improvements, and 5S activities
  • Communicate effectively with others through established written and oral means
  • Manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Attend required cell, production and maintenance meetings and trainings
  • Maintain and repair manufacturing equipment including :
    • Must be able to troubleshoot, adjust, and have a working knowledge of how the equipment is to operate. 
    • Must be able to perform preventive, predictive, reactive and corrective maintenance.
  • Provide effective transfer of information on-shift and between shifts on condition of equipment and performance issues
  • Demonstrate safe work practices ensuring safety of personnel and safe operation of equipment, including, but not limited to:  confined space entry, lockout/tagout, hot work permits, use of welding curtains, safe handling of chemicals and emergency response procedures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement results by suggesting line and equipment performance improvement ideas.
  • Pursue identification of root cause of repetitive and recurring failures
  • Complete necessary training to upgrade skills pertaining to effective maintenance of equipment and systems.
  • Complete work orders on time and communicate to TLA reasons for not being able to complete work order on scheduled completion date.
  • Identify and requisition parts, document repair history for equipment including labor, materials and outside maintenance services.
  • Rebuild equipment and components as needed.
  • Perform failed component analyses.
  • Demonstrate:
    • Thorough understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems including schematics and symbols
    • Understanding and use of lubrication including schedules and types of lubricants used
    • Understanding of 220/480V  3-phase electricity.
    • Understanding of basic electrical schematics, theory and troubleshooting (single- and 3-phase)
    • Understanding of mechanical drive systems (chains, belts, etc.)
    • Proper use of hand and power tools
    • Basic skill with shop equipment including mill, lathe, grinder, drill press, hydraulic press, metal cutoff saw, bandsaw and electric hoist
  • Perform other duties as assigned



Job Requirements 


  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems
  • An understanding of PLC’s is favorable
  • Mechanical, math,  troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • 5+ years of previous experience as a Maintenance Mechanic in an industrial manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to safely lift a minimum of 75 lbs.
  • Experienced in a manufacturing environment maintain machinery
  • Ability to stand for 8 consecutive hours
  • Ability to work in a warm or cold (small refrigerated section) environment and around product dust
  • Ability to climb and work from a ladder or lift equipment
  • Ability  to work in a self-directed team environment
  • Ability to work independently with high quality and productivity
  • Willing to work flexible hours and frequent overtime including weekend work
  • High School diploma or equivalent
