Job Description 

Bethesda Lutheran Communities, a Christ-centered non-profit agency dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through services that share the good news of Jesus Christ.  We are seeking a part time Registered Nurse to work with program managers and other agency staff to support the medical needs of adults with developmental and related disabilities in order to help them maintain and achieve healthy and full lives as they grow in independence and confidence.

RN duties include:

  • Assess each client's health needs on an ongoing and semi-annually in a variety of areas including, but not limited to: nutritional information, vision, and hearing, laboratory reports, dental reports, and immunizations.
  • Develop a Nursing Care Plan to be included in the clients Person Centered Planning.
  • Review doctors orders and medical documentation provided by company employees, update the doctor orders, review lab reports, and write regular progress notes .
  • Review and follow up on all Incident Reports
  • Help teach classes according to the state regulations ie: HIV/AIDS, TB, medication certification, signs and symptoms, back safety, proper lifting techniques, seizures and epilepsy, medication administration/side affects and any other classes as directed.
  • Attend person centered/directed planning meetings as needed.
  • Monitoring the use, effectiveness and therapeutic effects of medications.
  • Attending doctor appointments with the Program Manager (or designated staff) 
  • Monitor, evaluate and oversee other nursing staff, LVN's and consultants working in a medical capacity.
  • Working closely with program managers to assure the health of individuals served by Bethesda.

Preferred skills:

  • Be knowledgeable of Medicare and MediCal
  • Be knowledgeable of State Regulations that pertain to nursing services for Intermediate Care Facilities
 


Job Requirements 

Qualifications:

  • A current, valid state-specific Registered Nursing License 
  • 2 year degree 
  • At least 1 year of management experience in some capacity,
  • 2 years experience required--ICF, CCF or SNF experience desired
  • Strong documentation skills 
  • Computer skills--proficient in applications such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint and a familiarity with computerized documentation systems.
  • 18 years old
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to drive
  • Pass a criminal history check
  • Maintain confidentiality, problem-solve and be a team player
  • Positive attitude
