Job Description


Schumacher Group is seeking home based Registered Nurses for our Care Management Division.  These clinicians will join an elite group of Care Management Specialists performing complex medical record reviews.  The ideal candidate has 3+ years clinical experience in  a hospital setting, is energetic and flexible, and possesses strong communication skills (verbal / written).  Proficiency with technology, InterQual, Utilization Review and Case Management required.

Care Managers in the Care Management Call Center provide admission and continued stay clinical reviews of hospital inpatient charts, appropriately applying InterQual criteria.  She/he will also provide secondary and/or validation reviews for work completed by co-workers.

  • Ability to read patient charts and to determine the physician’s plan of care.
  • Ability to appropriately apply InterQual criteria to accomplish admission and continued stay reviews.
  • Ability to identify missing clinical information related to admission diagnosis, and attempt to obtain required documentation through verbal and/or written query process.
  • Ability to recognize need for documentation improvement and attempt to query when questions arise.
  • Will accomplish secondary and/or validation reviews for co-workers.
  • Will possess the ability to conduct UR reviews on behalf of the hospital, with contact to third party insurers, if needed in future
  • Has a baseline knowledge of ED operations
  • Demonstrates responsibility for personal development by participation in continuing education offerings
  • Attends continuing education offerings


Job Requirements

Educational and/or Professional Qualifications:

Registered Nurse – graduated from a qualified program of nursing, possesses an active RN license and is in good standing with State Board of Nursing.  

Extensive clinical experience, 3 years required.

Current knowledge in Case Management and InterQual required.

High level of organizational skills and priority setting

Critical thinking skills

Highly developed communication skills

Ability to function independently during case reviews

Ability to successfully complete IRR certification
