Job Description 


JOB TITLE:Automotive Electronics Engineer
WORK LOCATION:Portland, OR

TYPE OF WORK/DURATION:Contract (one year)
PAY RATE:

RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:
• Provide manufacturing support for vehicle electronics production testing, plant automation and vehicle assembly processes.
• Maintain and develop testing and automation solutions for throughput and quality within multiple plants by following through the procurement process including; budget preparation, expenditure justification, material acquisition, facilities preparations, equipment installation, equipment and vehicle tryout, labor allocations and training coordination.
• Apply technology in testing, machine control systems, and automation into vehicle manufacturing processes. Identify production related problems ahead of implementation into the plants via concurrent engineering and the application of DFMA principles.
• Provide engineering expertise and guidance on the specification, acquisition and development of software and vehicle electronics validation to ensure compliance with all government and safety regulations.
• Troubleshoot electrical assembly and testing systems to resolve problems at vehicle assembly plants as they occur. Evaluate current electrical assembly processes, layouts and labor requirements and assess capital investment plans for future production requirements.
• Apply project management skills while working closely with the plant, design engineers and vendors to coordinate projects to their completion.
• Overall, be familiar will all product and manufacturing procedures in order to combine them with basic mechanical, electrical, industrial and software engineering principles to optimize truck assembly processes.
 


Job Requirements 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Masters degree or Bachelors degree in electrical or computer engineering is required.
Minimum of 2 years of previous work experience with electronic components or Ph.D. in electrical engineering is required.
• Minimum of 2 years engineering experience which must include some development and support of electrical test systems is required.
• Good written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Experience developing software specifications is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows applications is required.
• Specialization in Electronics, Computer Science or related technical automotive electrical engineering field is preferred.
• Experience in programming languages C, C# or C++ are preferred.
• Some fluency in Spanish is preferred.
• Knowledge of CATIA, AutoCAD is preferred.
• Working knowledge of embedded controllers, PLC s, relational databases, software development and vehicle electronics is highly preferred.
