JOB SUMMARY

The Speech Therapist conducts evaluations, develops trans-disciplinary plans, provides treatment, engages families in the provision of development promoting interventions, and works collaboratively with families of infants and toddlers to promote healthy growth and development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrates knowledge of speech-language therapy practice frameworks and state eligibility guidelines for services to young children, areas of child development, and home based service delivery model.

Develops treatment plans in accordance with these guidelines and collaborates with team members to develop, implement, and/or evaluate the Individualized Family Services Plan (IFSP).

Conducts evaluations and assessments that contain all state and federally required elements to determine eligibility for services, interprets and reports findings, develops treatment plans and goals and objectives that are measurable and attainable to meet student needs.

Conducts home visits that actively engage families and incorporate objectives and strategies that are linked to daily routines and activities.

Demonstrates knowledge of trauma informed relational approaches and models and incorporates these models into service delivery.

Documents all client related information in a timely manner and in compliance with Medicaid, Licensing, and other related standards.

Works effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team by communicating effectively and positively with colleagues, families, internal and external service providers, administrative staff and actively preparing and participating in team meetings.

Demonstrates clear, concise, professional writing and oral reporting skills.

Demonstrates effective time management skills to handle caseloads, assessments, scheduling issues, and documentation requirements.

Adheres to all agency and department policies and procedures (e.g., confidentiality, abuse reporting standards, safety & infection control) and displays excellent work habits (e.g., provides excellent service, attendance and promptness at work and meetings, timeliness in work completion, efficient management of work).

Provides service in community settings outside of the office (e.g., homes, child care settings, hospitals, or other community settings).       

Reports suspected child abuse/neglect as mandated by state law.
