Project Engineering Senior ManagerDescription: Security Clearance: Secret • Established technical expertise in related area • Demonstrated Leadership/managerial skills • Proven Project Management experience including full-cycle project planning using Microsoft Project • Experience interfacing with military, inter-company, and industry partners at a high level • Strong Customer Relations expertise and excellent presentation skills sufficient to comfortably and effectively present at senior leadership (business and military) level • In-depth knowledge of DoD mission and concept of operations • Proficiency with using Microsoft Office Tools The selected candidate will lead the Lockheed Martin Center for Innovation Operations team. This position reports directly to the Center for Innovation Director of Operations. This individual is a strategic thinker with the ability to identify, examine and shape opportunities around customer needs. The individual will serve as a principal point of contact and liaison with the LM Business Areas, CE&T, and government partners on operational matters. They will be responsible for managing a portfolio of concurrent projects for the CFI that focus on integrating modeling and simulation applications, analysis, and experimentation capabilities. Knowledge of LM Center for Innovation operational construct including interface with external operational customers (Army/Navy/Air Force/Marine Corp), with CE&T organizations, and with LM Business Areas programs in support of experiments, demonstrations, analysis, and technical exchanges is key. This position requires the individual to operate both as a Project Planner, teammate, and as the group manager. The candidate should have experience leading project planning activities using Microsoft Project to include directing the creation, approval, and ongoing maintenance of the plan. The selected individual will demonstrate Full Spectrum Leadership competencies and hold strong interpersonal and communications skills and demeanor to represent the CFI to customers, teammates, executive management and staff The individual with be responsible for managing the day to day operation of a diverse team including: • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, leadership and co-workers and ensuring these same effective relationships exist between direct reports and all functional areas • Ensuring accountability and follow-up for assigned activities • Serving as a link between senior management and employees by handling questions, and helping to resolve work-related problems. o Plan, assign, direct, and evaluate the work of direct staff. o Annual Objective setting; performance management, and compensation & salary planning o Responsible for developing the workforce through establishment of mentoring relationships and career development plans o Knowledgeable about policies, training, job duties, opportunities, and employee benefits o Conflict management o Process appropriate security clearances • Interviewing and selecting applicants as needed; conduct new employee orientation as required • Preparing and following budgets for personnel operations • Coordinating with the functional organization (finance/ contracts, procurement, training, IT, AV, Eng, Facilities, Security) and ensure correct information is managed effectively. This position is intended to provide experience necessary to enable the individual to grow into next assignment within 2-3 years while effectively building bench strength for successful succession plan.
