SMARTSOURCE is currently seeking a Senior Network Engineer for a contract in Northbrook, IL
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 4-6 months
Location: Northbrook, IL 60062
Start Date: ASAP
Travel: This person would need to be able to travel during this time period to Winthrop Maine.. This person would also need to be available for off-hour implementation.
All the work will be completed in the Winthrop ME facility, but the candidate would primarily work in the Northbrook, IL office. The candidate would be remotely accessing the systems at Winthrop.
The tasks they are looking to complete during the 4 to 6 month contract are:
• Adding/changing network hardware (Firewalls, switches, ACL’s etc…)
• Configuring workstations (anti-virus, IDS, etc…)
• Configuring servers (anti-virus, IDS, etc…)
• Setting up/performing auditing based on our PCI procedures & guidelines
• IDS/IPS deployment/configuration
Responsibilities include designing, planning and implementing physical and logical communications networks as well as storage and server architecture. Network security review, standardization and documentation; Product and technology evaluation and recommendations. Resolves Tier III issues escalated from Tier II. Serves as an information resource and mentor for Tier I and II technicians. Ensures infrastructure meets compliance controls and framework.

• Design and plan the network architecture, network infrastructure and LAN/WAN/VOIP/Security/Wireless solutions
• Design and document information security strategies and procedures
• Design and document Data Center and remote office data layout and the use of the CS Storage Area Network
• Work closely with other technical teams & vendors to provide solutions to issues
• Implement and configure servers/routers/PBX systems/switches/firewalls
• Troubleshoot escalated issues from Tier II, train and provide technical training to Tier I & II Technicians
Education and Experience Requirements:
• Education equivalent to BA/BS degree or an AA/AS degree or technical certifications such as MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, CCSP, CCVP
• Seven or more years of related experience providing network and infrastructure design/support
Technical skills required:
• 5-7 years progressively responsible experience in designing, implementing and supporting LANs/WANs/WLANs
• 5-7 years experience with network security platforms and technologies such as PIX, IPS/IDS, and IPSEC
• 5-7 years experience with implementing and configuring Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, VOIP and VPN devices
• 3-4 years Implementing and configuring Windows and Unix Servers
• 3-4 years Implementing and configuring VMware environments
• Strong network and server troubleshooting skills and ability to train Tier I & II technicians
• Extensive knowledge of interior and exterior routing protocols such as RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP
